Opening (I Do)

An engaging process for lesson introduction that is specifically planned to encourage equitable and purposeful student participation. Describe the instructional process that will be used to introduce the lesson.

Standard/s: 

IT-IDT-7: Use computational thinking procedures to analyze and solve problems.

Learning Target:  I know that I have learned it when I can:

 

I can learn the basics of breaking a problem down into simple sequences.

 

Success Criteria:

 

I can give the computer commands 1 line at a time to accomplish simple tasks.

 

Introduction/Connection:

Review the following terms:

 

Students will complete today’s SPARK TIME problem.

 

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:

 

Teacher will go over simple syntax for giving the computer instructions.

 

Work Period  (We Do, You Do)

Students learning by doing/demonstrating learning expectations.  Describe the instructional process that will be used to engage the students in the work period.

TKES 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. 8,10

 

GUIDED PRACTICE: 

 

Students will watch a 3 min video and we will answer questions about the video.

INDEPENDENT/COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE/DIFFERENTIATION:

 

Students will complete a few tasks by analyzing the problem and giving the computer simple instructions to accomplish the tasks.

 

 

Closing  (We Check)

Describe the instructional process that will be used to close the lesson and check for student understanding .

SUMMARIZE/CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

 

 

Students reflect and discuss their responses to the end of class discussion questions.
