WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to the Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA). I am excited that
you have chosen to attend our school and am honored to serve as your Principal for the coming school year. The mission of GICCA is to ensure a viable 21st century workforce for Glynn County. Recent studies and data have shown that there is a shortage of workers across the country. This is particularly true in the areas of skilled and technical labor. At the same time, the country is also facing a gap in workers equipped with the proper employability skills and work ethic needed to be successful in today’s workforce. At GICCA, we strive to create an
environment where students will grow in both career skills and employability skills to be successful regardless of their career pathway. We want to ensure that Glynn County has the
trained and motivated workforce it needs to grow our businesses and community.

At GICCA you will find we offer a wide range of career training opportunities as well as college opportunities through dual-enrollment. We also offer work based learning opportunities to enable students to practice the skills and work ethic learned in our classrooms. Additionally, we offer numerous extracurricular and leadership opportunities through our student service organizations. The staff and I look forward to working with you this upcoming school year and  helping you to trigger the spark to ignite your future.

Please take the time to read through this handbook in its entirety. You will find it contains a wealth of useful information about the school as well as our policies and procedures.
Again, I am honored to have the privilege of serving you as Principal and look forward to a great 2025-2026 school year.

Educationally yours,
Dr. Joseph L Depenhart
Principal
