Introducing the Golden Isles College & Career Academy Foundation

 

The GICCA Foundation was established to support the education of students attending a Glynn County high school. The Foundation provides scholarships to graduating seniors from each career program area. In addition, donations are used to support our students’ career development education in those areas where other funding is not available, which may include travel to local and state career and technical student organization competitions, STEM activities, renovations to program facilities aligned to meeting  industry standards, and workforce development programming. 

The Golden Isles College & Career Academy (GICCA) builds a viable skilled workforce to support a strong economy in Glynn County. The mission of GICCA is supported by a collaborative partnership between Glynn County Schools, Coastal Pines Technical College, the GICCA Foundation, and the regional business sector of Southeast Coastal Georgia. 

 

GICCA students provide a skilled workforce to local businesses and industry in a myriad of professional and occupational disciplines. Students actively participate in a diverse curriculum, which embeds college, career and community readiness into teaching and learning practices. Our teaching methods prepare students for the workplace while they pursue their passion in a career pathway.

 

GICCA has a variety of programs available to students in grades 9-12, who attend their “base” high school (Brunswick High School or Glynn Academy) for half of their school day, and attend GICCA for the other half. Students may focus their learning in a variety of 12 different areas, including:  Agriculture/Horticulture/Veterinary Science/Aqua Science; Automotive Service; Broadcast Video; Collision Repair; Construction; Culinary Arts; Engineering/Manufacturing; Graphic Design; Healthcare Science; Sports Medicine; Precision Machining; and Welding. 

 

In addition to learning in the classroom, students also participate in a number of work-based learning opportunities and are actively involved in service learning projects in our community. Work-based learning and community involvement extends the classroom into the community allowing students direct contact with the local workforce and community members.
