Patient Care (CNA)

Instructor: Sarah Liebelt, RN, BSN

The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Patient Care Pathway provides students with the entry-level medical knowledge and clinical training required to excel in frontline healthcare roles.

Program Overview

The curriculum combines intensive classroom biology and medical terminology with hands-on lab work to train students in immediate patient support. [1]

  • Dual Enrollment Advantage: Operating in direct partnership with Coastal Pines Technical College, this pathway allows students to earn high school and college credits simultaneously.
  • CNA Certification Preparation: The track equips students with the exact competencies needed to pass the state examination and earn a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.
  • Stackable Healthcare Design: This pathway is fully stackable with other GICCA healthcare options—such as Phlebotomy/Clinical Lab Tech, Dental Science and Sports Medicine/Exercise Physiology Pathways—sharing core introductory courses so students can easily earn multiple medical credentials.
  • Supervised Clinical Experience: Students transition out of the lab to complete real-world clinical rotations at local healthcare and rehabilitation facilities.
  • Workforce Launchpad: Graduates can leverage local Work-Based Learning pipelines to enter immediate employment or treat the CNA certificate as a foundation for advanced nursing degrees
