The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Sports Medicine & Exercise Physiology Pathway introduces students to vital healthcare fields focused on physical activity, rehabilitation, and athletic performance. 

Program Overview

This training track combines core anatomical sciences with hands-on medical skills to prepare students for careers focused on the musculoskeletal system. 

  • Injury Assessment & Prevention: Students learn the mechanics of physical movement, discovering how injuries occur and how to design preventative taping and conditioning routines. 
  • Rehabilitative Concepts: Instruction covers the fundamentals of physical therapy, muscle recovery, and customized plans to help individuals safely regain mobility. 
  • Cardiovascular & Metabolic Evaluation: Coursework introduces students to basic exercise testing, metabolism tracking, and measuring vital health metrics.
  • Stackable Healthcare Credentials: Like other medical options, this path shares core introductory classes, allowing students to seamlessly pair it with other healthcare disciplines.
  • Real-World Application: Enrolled students can participate in HOSA (Future Health Professionals) activities and leverage local Work-Based Learning placements at regional fitness or sports clinics.
