The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Companion Animal Systems Pathway provides a rigorous foundation for students aiming to pursue Pre-Veterinary Medicine, veterinary technology, or advanced animal sciences.

Program Overview

This science-driven training track focuses on the biological and medical care of domestic animals, helping future veterinary professionals build an early competitive edge. 

• Pre-Vet Foundations: Coursework introduces students to essential veterinary sciences, including animal anatomy, physiology, and pathology. 
• Clinical Skill Development: Students learn practical veterinary assistant skills, such as animal restraint, administering basic medications, and clinical safety protocols. 
• Nutrition & Disease Evaluation: Instruction focuses on dietary needs across different life stages and identifying common companion animal diseases. 
• Hands-On Lab Work: Students gain real-world familiarity with animal behavior, husbandry, and the diagnostic tools used in modern veterinary clinics. 
• Industry Connection: Enrolled students can participate in FFA animal science competitions and leverage local Work-Based Learning placements at regional veterinary hospitals.
