The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Plant and Landscape Systems Pathway introduces students to the scientific principles and artistic designs driving the green industry.
Program Overview
This hands-on curriculum combines botany with business management to prepare students for careers in nursery production, landscape design, and turf management.
- Horticultural Science: Students explore plant anatomy, soil science, plant propagation, and greenhouse management techniques.
- Landscape Design & Installation: Instruction focuses on drafting landscape layouts, selecting regional plant varieties, and implementing hardscape elements.
- Pest & Weed Management: Coursework covers identifying plant diseases, diagnosing insect damage, and applying safe, sustainable chemical controls.
- Nursery & Floral Operations: Students gain practical business experience running greenhouse sales, managing inventory, and creating floral arrangements.
- Career Fast-Track: Enrolled students can participate in FFA nursery and landscape competitions while leveraging local Work-Based Learning opportunities with regional landscaping firms.
