The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Carpentry Pathway introduces students to the foundational woodworking, framing, and construction techniques used across the residential and commercial building industries.

Program Overview

The training track combines classroom instruction with rigorous job-site simulations to teach students how to transform structural blueprints into finished projects.

  • Structural Framing: Students master floor, wall, ceiling, and roof framing layout, learning how to build safe structural components.
  • Blueprint Reading: Instruction focuses on geometric design, scale measurements, material takeoffs, and construction mathematics.
  • Hand & Power Tool Safety: Coursework places strict emphasis on the proper handling, maintenance, and operation of industrial construction equipment.
  • Finishing & Trim Work: Students develop precise technical skills in installing windows, doors, interior molding, and exterior siding.
  • Industry Fast-Track: Successful students build a strong portfolio to secure local Work-Based Learning opportunities or enter regional trade apprenticeships.
