The Golden Isles College and Career Academy (GICCA) Phlebotomy/Clinical Lab Tech Dual-Pathway introduces students to the foundational healthcare sciences and medical laboratory practices required for vital diagnostic careers.

Program Overview

The training track combines core medical knowledge with high-level technical training to teach students how to safely collect, process, and evaluate clinical laboratory specimens. 

• Stackable Healthcare Tracks: The program shares its first two foundational courses with other medical tracks, allowing students to earn additional healthcare pathway credentials in just one additional semester. 
• Venipuncture & Specimen Collection: Students gain hands-on experience using simulated training arms to master professional blood draws, dermal punctures, and fluid handling. 
• Infection Control & Safety: Instruction focuses heavily on medical terminology, universal safety precautions, sterilization standards, and biohazard disposal. 
• Certification Preparation: Coursework prepares students for the national certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician upon meeting all required live-stick clinical milestones. 
• Career Fast-Track: Graduating students can leverage local Work-Based Learning opportunities or use this pathway as an immediate stepping stone into advanced nursing or medical laboratory sciences.
